Candied Orange Peel

Candied fruit peel is easier than you might think to make at home. It also works with other kinds of fruit such as lemons, limes, blood oranges (etc.).


- 200 g orange peel
- 220 g sugar
- 250 ml water

Rinse the oranges and cut them into quarters and carefully remove the peel. Slice each peace of peel into thin strips and put them into a saucepan or bowl and soak them in the water for three days.

Change the water every now and then.

Drain the orange strips and cut them into little squares. Cook them in new water for 15 minutes.

In another saucepan, put 250ml water and 220g sugar and simmer until all the sugar melts. When the syrup is boiling add the peel. Lower the heat a little and simmer the peel until all the syrup evaporates.

The peel should be translucent.

Put the parchment paper on the baking sheet and spread the peel over the paper and let the peel dry to the other day.
