Czech Buns
These buns are typical Czech dessert. We usually fill the buns with a poppy seed filling or cottage cheese filling.
Ingredients:
- 14oz spelt flour
- 1,5oz fresh yeast
- 2oz unrefined sugar
- 7fl oz milk
- pinch of salt
- 2 yolks
- lemon zest from one organic lemon
- 100g softened butter
- some softened butter for greasing buns
- 14oz prune butter
Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, milk, salt, yolks, lemon zest and softened butter in the large bowl.
Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth.
Place the dough in a bowl and leave to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Then roll out the dough and cut the squares about 3x3 in. Place the spoonful of prune butter on the each square and then wrap the square and place into the greased roasting pan. Grease each bun with butter even its sides.
Ten leave the buns prove in the roasting pan about 30-45 minutes.
Bake for about 30 minutes.
These buns are the most delicious the day of baking the other day they aren't so soft and tasty.
